If you received the error message "Please check the outgoing server settings." and you are using Gmail to transmit to FDLE, It is possible that you have recently changed your Gmail password, two factor authentication was turned off, or the application password has expired.
Please follow the steps below to create/re-establish an application password in LiveScan and test the transmission.
1. Activate (turn on) 2-Step verification in your google account by logging in to your google account -> go to "Manage your Google Account" -> "Security" -> turn on "2-Step Verification" and follow the steps to activate. If you already have 2 step verification “ON” go to Step 2.
2. Create an application password on the same "Security" screen in your account. You should have the option "App passwords" available after completing step 1. Select “App passwords”. If you don't see the option, in the Google Account Search Bar, enter in app, this will display an option for app passwords, click on it.
2a) In the drop down for “select app” select “Other (Custom name)”.
2b) Name your new app password (“LiveScan” preferably). Click “GENERATE”
2c) Copy the code provided.
3. Replace the current password in LiveScan by going to Configuration -> Transmitters Settings -> select "Agency" and "Type of Transaction" (Select NFUF-FBI) -> select the "transmitter to modify the settings" (Select SMTP) -> replace the current password with the application password on step 2. Then "save".
4. It will ask you if you want to "replicate setting to all Tots?", select "yes".
IMPORTANT: This applies every time you reset your Gmail password.
