Purpose
This document will show you how to turn on App Passwords for FDLE customers who are using GMail for their transmitter settings.
Procedure
Have customer log into their Gmail account.
Once logged in, go to their settings located in the upper right corner and click on it.
Open up ‘Account’ (See Figure 002 below)

Click on ‘Security’ that is located in the menu on the left side of the screen. (See Figure 003 below)

Scroll down the page until you see ‘Signing in to Google’
Click on ‘2-Step Verification’ (See Figure 004 below)

If 2 Step Verification is already on, please go to the step for Setting the App Password.
Click on ‘Get Started’ and have the customer go through the process and prompts of turning on 2FA. Passwords may need to be re-entered, codes might get sent as text messages that the customer will have to type in. (See Figure 005 below)

The final step should be ‘Turn on 2-Step Verification?’ Click ‘TURN ON’. (See Figure 006 below)

Setting the App Pasword:
The ability to create App passwords is now available. Go back to the main menu and type App in the search bar. (See Figure 008 below)

Click on App passwords
Google may prompt for the Gmail password to be entered again. Please have customer enter it, if prompted.
On the App passwords page, yype in LiveScan and click Generate (See Figure 010 below)

A password is then generated for the LiveScan app (See Figure 011 below)

Copy and paste this password into the FDLE Transmitter Settings under Password (See Figure 012 below)

In the Google App password Generator pop-up, click on DONE to close it. Be sure to copy and paste the password into LiveScan first! (See Figure 013 below)

LiveScan is now an app listed in the customer’s Google account settings that has its own password. (See Figure 014 below)

You can now navigate back to LiveScan. Access to customer’s Gmail is no longer needed.
